Ironboundfoodscapes, Five Buildings, Five Stories, One Neighborhood This project is a collaboration between the Newark Board of Education and Newest Americans, a storytelling project about migration and identity based out of Rutgers University-Newark, created in partnership with Talking Eyes Media. Join us at and here on social media as we explore what the #COVID19 pandemic looks and feels like from these young people’s perspective. Newest Americans is produced by the Rutgers Center for Migration and the Global City in partnership with VII Photo and Talking Eyes Media. The project cross-pollinates academic inquiry, public humanities programming, and award-winning media production to generate fresh narratives and insights about our (im)migrant past and our demographic future. Based in Newark, NJ-a city shaped by migration-the project also explores the ways the history of the city informs these contemporary immigrant stories. Newest Americans is a multimedia laboratory where visual storytellers, journalists and artists collaborate with academics and students to document the stories that radiate from the most diverse university in the nation.
